Well, here it is. The end of 2013. That means that every website devoted to gaming, music and movies is dropping their Top Ten lists of the year. Well, I am not doing a Top Ten list for all of these categories. The reasoning? I am a simple man who does not get to see, hear, and play everything that releases. I work two jobs and have a three year old. In other words, I simply do not have time to see, hear, or play everything I want to. In fact, I cannot maintain this site as well as I’d like. I’m sure you all understand.
So, basically, here is what I am going to do. I am going to post my favorite film, game, and CD with a runner-up or two. Just keep in mind, these are my favorites of what I have seen. I have missed more than I have seen, so this is by no means comprehensive. These are just the favorites of what I had the pleasure of imbibing. Let’s get on with it, shall we?
BIZZAM!! Game of the Year!!
This was chosen as my game of the year simply because of the sheer amount of time I spent with it. I played this title more than any other this year, devoting more hours than anything since Final Fantasy XII. I absolutely love this game and you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing it.
I have only just started playing this, and it is already one of my favorite titles. It is a magical game that I simply cannot play enough. While the initial design of the little guy on the cover (Drippy) originally shied me away from this game, I am glad I finally gave it a chance. This is a wonderful JRPG that is gorgeous and exceedingly fun to play.
A lot of publications have called this one of the best games of the year. It is. While I don’t feel it reaches the dizzying heights of the original Bioshock, it is a damned good game in it’s own right. Forsaking the failed underwater utopia of Rapture of a city in the clouds called Columbia, it is definitely an adult oriented game. Once again, you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing this game. As an added bonus, this game comes with a copy of the original Bioshock!
Honorable, Honorable Mention
The simple reason this didn’t rank higher on my list is simply because of it’s length. This is a fairly short game. I completed it 100% in about 9 hours. Those 9 hours, though, were an absolute joy. Once again, this is not a game for children. This is an adult story that manages to keep you enthralled throughout. This game is quite simply a masterpiece. If there would have been a little more length to the game, it certainly would have ranked higher.
So, there are my gaming picks of the year. Honestly, I played no games this year that I would have to include in a Dishonorable Mention category, so that is a bonus!
From me here at BIZZAM!! I want to wish you all a happy and joyous New Year! Let’s hope this year brings us as many great Movies, Games, and Metal as 2013!
