James Douglas “Jim” Morrison
December 8, 1943-July 3, 1971
Jim Morrison was the lead singer and lyricist of The Doors. He died at the age of 27 in Paris, France. While he had a severe drug and alcohol addiction, no autopsy was performed so the exact cause of his death is unknown.
I became a fan of The Doors right after high school. The songs Waiting for the Sun and the incredibly dark and frightening The End cemented my fandom. I have been a fan since and will still pop in a Doors CD in between my metal. I personally feel that they were the precursor to metal, that they led into Black Sabbath, who then refined the sound.
Lets all take a moment to send out good vibes to those of his family and friends who are left and let them know he is not forgotten.

I am a huge Doors and Morrison fan. I have almost all their albums on vinyl.
On vinyl!? Very nice! I just have CD’s. lol There is a lot to be said for the original vinyl, though.
I love vinyl. I have a huge stereo from the 70s with a record player and 8 track (although nothing but the radio is working at the moment). Waiting for the Sun was my very first piece of vinyl.
I think that song in particular sold me on The Doors. It is super heavy for the time, and it is why I believe they were the great grandfathers of metal. lol
My very favorite song is “Spanish Caravan”.
It’s the beginning, I adore it.
