It seems that none other than Samuel L. Jackson has signed aboard the RoboCop remake. Yes, really. Nick Fury himself will be in RoboCop. He joins Joel Kinnaman as Murphy and Gary Oldman as a scientist who creates RoboCop. Very interesting casting news.
While I am not a huge fan of remakes in general, this one is starting to shape up into something worth watching. I will have this one on my radar. It looks like they are targeting a summer 2013 release date.

I’m always up for some RoboCop action but I’m very skeptical about this one.
If they can keep what made the original relevant, the political satire most importantly, they may have something special. The big question is ‘if’. From interviews with the director, it seems that he understands this, which gives me hope. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
That reminds me…I would fucking hate to be the director of a remake because no matter what people are going to criticize the shit out of your project.
Especially something high-profile like this. I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if you were remaking something like Black X-mas, something that no one liked originally.
