Variety is reporting that Guy Pearce (Memento, Lockout) is in final negotiations to enter Iron Man 3 as geneticist Aldrich Killian. While I am not familiar with the character (I never read Iron Man), I guess he is a character from the comics. When you add the news that dropped a couple weeks ago that Ben Kingsley (Hugo, Gandhi) is joining the cast, I gotta say WOW! I have so been waiting for Guy Pearce to enter the comic book film world.
Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise the role of Iron Man, and this new film will be directed by Shane Black (the writer of Lethal Weapon, The Long Kiss Goodnight). Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, and Don Cheadle are all also returning.
Having just re-watched Iron Man and Iron Man 2, I find that I am getting excited at the prospect of a third. While I didn’t really dig them initially, I found that I enjoyed them a lot more now than then.
Stay tuned. In anticipation of The Avengers, opening May 4 in the US, I will be posting a review a day of the films leading up to The Avengers, in the order they were released.
